Shampooing isn’t enough. This is the most important step in every hair care routine that most people don’t know about.

March 2016

Most of us are familiar with skincare; we know what the basic steps are: cleanse, tone, moisturise, and yes, exfoliate and apply a mask regularly. But how many of us know what are the essential steps to hair care?

Our scalp needs exfoliating too

Our scalp is an extension of our skin, so it is probably not surprising that it has many similar traits with our facial skin. Just like our facial skin, it produces sebum and sheds skin cells that can clog our hair follicles over time. As such, our scalp definitely needs to be exfoliated regularly to get rid of these impurities to prevent our follicles from clogging, which can encourage hair loss.

On top of preventing clogging, exfoliating our scalp thoroughly can also enable hair tonic and serum to penetrate deeply into the scalp, offering our scalp the nourishment that we need.

However, we bet most of us only use a shampoo and a conditioner from day to day. These are, of course, important products to use, but what will make a big difference to your hair and scalp health is if you introduce a pre-wash that exfoliates your scalp into your hair routine. A pre-wash acts exactly like how an exfoliator works on the facial skin – it gets rid of dead skin cells on the scalp, and prevents clogging from happening.

Try a trichologist-approved formula

Prewash_frontal

We recommend the new Derma-Rx Trichology Scalp-Clear Prewash (SGD65). This innovative product is infused with Stem Cell Reactivator and Bio-Antioxidant Enzyme, working together to slough off dead skin cells on the scalp, deeply moisturise it, and prevent clogging of hair follicles. Also enriched with a synergistic blend of botanical extracts, this pre-wash detoxifies the scalp from toxin and maintains its moisture and pH at healthy levels. This can be used as part of your daily routine.

What’s important to us is that the technology used in this hair care product is supported by DRx Trichology, one of the leading trichological centres that is helmed by a certified trichologist and is backed by years of experience in hair care and hair loss prevention.

How to use it?

Spray it directly onto the scalp, and leave it on for a few minutes. The non-lathering formula will work on your scalp to slough off dead skin cells. This is followed by the shampoo, which is also concentrated on the entire scalp, before you rinse off.

What other steps should we observe in our hair routine?

Cleanse
Like our skin, we need to cleanse our scalp regularly to keep it clean and healthy.

Try: Together with the launch of the new Scalp Clear Prewash, Derma-Rx Trichology has also launched the Purifying Shampoo (SGD59), which controls dandruff, and helps create a healthy scalp environment for fuller-looking hair. This shampoo may be free from sulfate, but the foaming agent that’s formulated completely using botanical ingredients enables the shampoo to produce sufficient foam for a comfortable hair wash experience.

Condition
A conditioner is like a moisturiser that keeps our hair hydrated, and looking smooth and shiny.

Try: You can follow up on the next step with the Derma-Rx Trichology Nourishing Conditioner (SGD59). This paraben-free conditioner is able to penetrate deep within the hair shafts to deliver moisture and nutrients so that hair becomes smooth, resilient, and shiny. It is especially useful for those with dry, frizzy, and chemically-damaged hair.

Treat
Finally, your hair is free from environmental factors that can lead to hair loss.

Try: Treat and revitalise your hair follicles with the Derma-Rx Trichology Trans-Follicular Serum (SGD109). This has a blend of ingredients that promotes hair growth while protecting scalp from external aggressions that can accelerate hair loss.
